special topic - Exploring Cultural Humility through Sand Tray Play (3 CE hrs.)
Prerequisite Sand Tray Play Therapy Level 1 at the Center for Sand Tray Play, or comparable training/experience.
This training is aimed at increasing the cultural competence of play therapists by examining the multidimensionality of culture as experienced in the context of play and play therapy. The exploration of personal culture through sand tray play will provide a foundation for increased attunement to the personal culture of clients. This workshop satisfies the 3 hour requirement for renewal of professional licensure.
Goals 1. To increase cultural humility by examining the multidimensionality of culture as experienced in the context of play and play therapy
2. To deepen therapists' cultural attunement to clients through sand tray play
Objectives Workshop participants will
1. learn about the multidimensionality of culture through various cultural models
2. explore the dynamics of personal culture through sand tray play
3. increase their attunement to the multi-dimensions of culture in their clients
4. integrate the multidimensionality of culture into their professional practice of sand tray play therapy
